Stay Sharp conference

June 10-11, 2024

There are troublesome yet influential models for pastoral ministry very much at work in our churches today: from CEO & celebrity to social worker & shopkeeper. The persistence & prevalence of these models has led many of our church members, leaders, & even pastors themselves to wonder: what's at the heart of our work, & how can we recover the vision for shepherding that we find in the Scriptures & the history of the church?

Kevin Vanhoozer believes that recovering the proper work & calling of pastors requires recovering a theological vision for ministry, one where God & his Word stands at the center. Such a vision sees pastors primarily as "theologians of God's people," shepherding the flock with the Word of God & helping them to see how to live in light of that Word in the particular time & place the Lord has put them. We hope you'll join us as we discover how renewing a theological vision for our ministry helps us become more faithful, fruitful pastors.

Our guest will be Dr. Kevin J. Vanhoozer, research professor of systematic theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He is the author of several books on theology, hermeneutics, culture, and ministry.
